Bawa Trails, Brief Garden and Lunuganga, Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa is regarded as one of the most important and influential Asian architects of the 20th century. He designed many of the important buildings in Sri Lanka including the Houses of Parliament, but one of his most striking achievements has to be his own garden at Lunuganga. Bawa spent 40 years transforming this once abandoned rubber estate into a tropical idyll, with elegant Italianate gardens, courtyards, lily ponds, walkways, romantic pavilions and inspirational views over Deduwa lake and the surrounding jungle. We will drive you to Lunuganga in a vintage Morris Minor convertible and once you have finished your visit we will continue on to Brief Garden which was created by Geoffrey`s brother Bevis who shared his passion for horticulture and worked as a landscape artist.
